Gain of 11q13.3, including amplification of CCND1 and FADD, was previously shown to be associated with poor clinical outcome in oral squamous cell carcinoma [44,45], in head and neck cancer patient-derived xenograft tissues [46], and in a recent proteogenomic study of 108 HPV-negative head and neck cancer tumors, of which 66 had matched normal adjacent tissues [47]. The gene discussed is CCND1; the disease is head and neck cancer.
