ALB and chronic kidney disease: The mitochondrial-inner-membrane-targeted SS-31 (d-Arg-2′, 6′-dimethyltyrosine-Lys-Phe-NH2) improved renal function by increasing recovering ATP, scavenging ROS (superoxide, hydrogen peroxide, peroxynitrite, and hydroxyl radicals) [149], and suppressing mitochondrial permeability in CKD model with a right nephrectomy following the treatment of hypochlorite-modified albumin in a remnant-kidney rat model [150,151].
