IDH1 and glioblastoma: Nowadays, it is well known that mutations in the isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH 1) enzyme are frequently present in gliomas; historically, the presence of an IDH gene mutation was the first to be associated with a better prognosis in glioblastoma, so much so that in the new WHO 2021 classification, its presence is sufficient for the diagnosis of low-grade glioma and excludes that of GBM.
