In this regard, leriglitazone, a specific PPARγ agonist, was recently shown to elicit remarkable effects in several models of X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy, including remyelination and neuroinflammation reduction [34], suggesting that target exposure and specificity might be important characteristics for the efficacy of PPAR agonists. This evidence concerns the gene PPARG and X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy.
