In one study, membranous staining for E-cadherin was observed in 74.3% of colorectal cancers, E-cadherin expression evaluated semi-quantitatively was also associated with the age at diagnosis, and a loss of E-cadherin expression was more often demonstrated in younger (≤60 years) patients (47.4% vs. 17.6%) [31]. This evidence concerns the gene CDH1 and colorectal cancer.
