IL6 and COVID-19: Clinical trials have shown beneficial effects when these medications are used in combination for COVID-19, although a risk of superinfections is present.37,38,42 Use of JAK inhibitors with IL-6 inhibitors is emerging in small case series of patients with COVID-19, with no evidence of serious harm,43 but this combination has not been thoroughly investigated and cannot be recommended by our decision-making framework due to an increased risk of secondary infections and lack of evidence.39,41
