IL6 and lymphopenia: An investigation of 52 patients with concurrent COVID-19 and cancer reported that severe disease was associated with the following factors: use of immunosuppressants, such as steroids (p = 0.001); hemodynamic decompensation patterns, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (p < 0.001), myocardial injury (p = 0.04), and shock (p = 0.02), as well as serum markers of inflammation, such as lymphopenia and elevated levels of IL-6, D-dimer, C-reactive protein (CRP), pro-calcitonin, and lactate dehydrogenase (LHD) (p < 0.05).
