The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2003–2004 and 2005–2006 showed significant differences between races for the association between 25-(OH)D and PTH above and below the threshold that is commonly used to define vitamin D deficiency (20 ng/mL), with inverse associations in Whites and Mexican Americans, but not in Blacks [24]. This evidence concerns the gene PTH and vitamin D deficiency.
