A single-center cross-sectional study of overweight children and adolescents reported that IGF-1 levels were significantly elevated in patients with early atherosclerotic retinopathy independent of age, sex, and family history of type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and dyslipidemia (Bizzarri et al., 2019). Here, IGF1 is linked to hypertensive disorder.
