GPX4 and hepatocellular carcinoma: In a recent study, researchers have shown that the downregulation of GSTZ1 expression in sorafenib-resistant HCC cells could inhibit sorafenib-induced cell death through activating the Nrf2 pathway, thereby increasing the expression levels of genes related to iron death (such as GPX4, SLC7A11, and FTL), preventing iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation, and reducing ROS levels.
