In sorafenib-resistant HCC cells, YAP/TAZ and ATF4 are activated in the nucleus, and YAP or TAZ binds to the DNA fragment containing the TEAD motif in the promoter of the SLC7A11 gene to induce the expression of SLC7A11, increasing the intracellular levels of GSH, decreasing the levels of ROS, and inhibiting ferroptosis in HCC cells, which also means that the HCC cells become resistant to sorafenib treatment. Here, ATF4 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
