Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have revealed that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the KLF14 gene are robustly associated with a multitude of metabolic pathologies, including T2DM, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, coronary artery diseases, ischemic heart attack, and myocardial infarction (10–13). This evidence concerns the gene KLF14 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
