IL2 and type 1 diabetes mellitus: Over the last three decades, an array of immune therapeutics targeting T cells (anti-thymocyte globulin and antibodies targeting CD2, CD3 and CD80/CD86), B cells (antibody targeting CD20), and cytokines (IL-1, IL-2, IL-6, IL-12/IL-23, IL-21, TNF-a) have been evaluated in clinical trials for efficacy in altering the course of T1D (26, 27).
