In conclusion, except in colorectal cancer in which MAL2 overexpression is reported to have a protective role in xenograft nude mice models, in this type of model MAL2 appears to favor cancer progression in lung, breast, ovarian, and pancreatic cancer; CMTM8 contributes to the development of metastasis in pancreatic cancer; and PLLP might be involved in the establishment of breast and melanoma metastasis in the brain. The gene discussed is MAL2; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
