The authors proposed that inflammatory ICC is characterized by the overexpression of STAT3 causing an upregulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-4 and IL-10, whereas proliferative ICC triggers Ras–MAPK pathway activation associated with worse prognosis and lower OS (24.3 vs. 47.2 months, p < 0.05). Here, IL10 is linked to intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
