Interestingly, two of these SNPs, rs3772479 and rs2270569, are located in the FHIT and KIF9 genes, respectively, which have been reported to play an important role in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) (Crohn’s disease being a type of IBD) (Skopelitou et al., 2003; Xu & Qiao, 2006; Wierzbicki et al., 2009; Wang et al., 2018). The gene discussed is KIF9; the disease is inflammatory bowel disease.
