The chemokines produced by macrophages/monocytes and linked to obesity are IP-10 or chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 10 (CXCL10), which is associated with decreased angiogenesis in adipose tissue and inflammation due to the lack of vascularization and is expressed in morbidly obese patients22, and regulated on activation, normal T cell expressed and secreted (RANTES) or chemokine (C–C motif) ligand 5 (CCL5), which contributes to resistance to insulin23, 24.
