Rui et al. (2021) detected the expression levels of NLRP3, caspase-1, GSDMD, and IL-1β and found all the above parameters were increased in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) and AD patients, and IL-1β was positively associated with the disease, indicating the important role of pyroptosis in AD. This evidence concerns the gene CASP1 and Alzheimer disease.
