Whole-cell patch clamp experiments showed that in NB cell lines SH-SY5Y and IMR-32, syncytin-1 could promote calcium influx by directly activating transient receptor potential channel 3 (TRPC3) channels and indirectly activating TRPC3 channels by downregulating the expression of DISC1, thereby promoting cell proliferation [97]. This evidence concerns the gene TRPC3 and neuroblastoma.
