COL20A1 and infection: Given that P. ramosa spores are coated with a thick layer of fibers hypothesized to be composed of collagen-like proteins (Andras et al. 2020), and that spore attachment to any of several sites on the host cuticle appears to be the primary determinant of infection outcome (Duneau et al. 2011; Fredericksen et al. 2021), these PCL genes are promising candidates for sites of interlinkage with host resistance genes.
