The cholinesterase inhibitor donepezil, which is one of the few drugs approved to treat dementia symptoms in Alzheimer’s disease and several other neurodegenerative disorders (Kim et al., 2017; Meng et al., 2019), also increased the DIcontacts value compared to that observed in saline-treated rats (p = 0.0184, Dunnett’s test; Figure 2B). This evidence concerns the gene BCHE and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
