NLRP3 and deep vein thrombosis: In addition, a study from the Canakinumab Anti‐Inflammatory Thrombosis and Outcomes Study (CANTOS) showed that inhibition of IL‐1β induced by NLRP3 inflammation reduces the incidence of atherothrombotic events and inflammation in patients after myocardial infarction (Ridker et al., 2017), suggesting that NLRP3 inflammasome may be a promising therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis and restenosis.
