ARAF and cancer: Even 23 (29.11%) of 79 active isolates harboring type I and type II PKS and NRPS (Cluster 1), 21 isolates (26.58%) harboring type II PKS and NRPS (Cluster 4), a rare actinobacterial species A-136 (Sinomonas halotolerans; Cluster 8) lacked all BGCs and yet were effective against all of the three tested cancer cell lines and all eight inactive stains (Clusters 9–12) harboring at least one type of BGCs were devoid of any anticancer activity.
