For the upregulated autophagy-related genes in CE stroke patients, the heterozygous depletion of the autophagy adaptor protein WDFY3/ALFY significantly accelerates the age of onset and progression of HD (Huntington’s disease) pathogenesis, revealing the requirement of WDFY3 in clearing proteinaceous deposits (26) in the brain. This evidence concerns the gene WDFY3 and Huntington disease.
