In gallbladder cancer, NEDD4L is significantly up-regulated and exerted a pro-oncogenic role through regulation of matrix metallopeptidase 1 and 13 genes transcription [36], whereas in prostate cancer, down-regulation or loss of function of NEDD4L (that can exert an antitumor activity via regulating the TGFβ1 signaling) is observed and proposed to be associated with the malignancy [37]. The gene discussed is MMP1; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
