The authors demonstrated that casticin reduced stemness characteristics in two lines of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), MHCC97H and SK-Hep-1, by reducing the CD44+ cell population, the CD44 protein levels, and the expression of stemness biomarkers EpCAM, Bmi, Nanog, and Oct4 mRNAs. This evidence concerns the gene POU5F1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
