The three upregulated genes, S100A8, S100A9, and CR1, showed significantly higher expression levels in patients with sepsis than in healthy volunteers (p < 0.001 for S100A8 and S100A9, and p = 0.005 for CR1), whereas the four downregulated genes, CD79A, HLA-DQB2, PLD4, and CCR7, showed significantly lower expression levels in patients with sepsis than in healthy volunteers (p < 0.001 for all four genes) (Table 3).
