SLC16A6 and cutaneous melanoma: MCT7 is highly expressed in melanoma cells, and two independent single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), PDSS1 rs12254548 G>C and SLC16A6 rs71387392 G>A, with allelic hazard ratios of 0.58 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.44–0.76, p = 9.00 × 10−5) and 1.98 (95% CI = 1.34–2.94, p = 6.30 × 10−4), respectively, have been linked to cutaneous melanoma survival [133].
