Total short-chain fatty acid (SCFAs) concentrations and free fatty acid receptor 2 (FFAR2) expression levels were greater in the control group when compared with the cancer group, while serum tumor necrosis factor alpha induced protein 8 (TNFAIP8), interleukin-6 (IL6), and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) levels were higher in the cancer group when compared with the control group. This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and cancer.
