NPPB and hydrops fetalis: While NT-proBNP was better than galectin-3 for diagnosis in acute HF, galectin-3 may be superior to NT-proBNP in predicting 60-day mortality (AUC-ROC 0.74 vs. 0.67, p = 0.05), and was associated with a 14-fold increased risk of all-cause death or HF hospitalization in multivariate analysis [58].
