In addition to Tregs, regulatory B cells (Bregs) can provide similar immunosuppressive properties and promote a pro-tolerance environment.15 Bregs have been implicated in the formation of tertiary lymphoid structures in certain tumors, in which they maintain an immunosuppressive state and protect the tumor from immune responses.16–18 For example, Bruno et al19 have shown that antigen-presenting, exhausted tumor-infiltrating B cells (CD19+CD20+CD69+CD27−CD21−) induce Tregs in vitro. This evidence concerns the gene CD69 and neoplasm.
