In our diabetic pancreas model, we found that reduced expression of many adult pancreatic markers (INS, SYP, Slc2a1, and KRT19) and pancreatic developmental markers (Pdx1, Prox1, Hnf1b, and Neurod1) in STZ-induced diabetic model was attenuated by the intraperitoneal administration of mPTD-BMP7, assuming pancreatic exocrine-endocrine conversion has partially occurred. The gene discussed is NEUROD1; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
