The two SNPs located in KCNQ1 had a stronger association with T2D in males than females (OR > 1.6 versus OR = 1.2; P < 0.0001 versus P < 0.05), while the SNP in SLC22A18 had a slightly higher association in females versus males (OR > 1.43 versus OR = 1.32; P < 0.0002 versus P < 0.007). Here, KCNQ1 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
