ADAM8 and breast carcinoma: Among them are the family of a disintegrin and metalloproteases (ADAMs) that comprise 22 members in humans, whereby ADAM8 has been even shown to cleave fibronectin (Zack et al., 2009), which is elevated in certain cancer types (Santiago-Medina and Yang, 2016; Topalovski and Brekken, 2016), such as breast cancer (Wang et al., 2017), but it is still controversially discussed (Lin et al., 2019).
