After adjusting for covariates, patients with the highest quartile of IL‐6 levels had a non‐significantly 27% higher risk of stroke recurrence (8.8% vs. 5.5%, adjusted OR [aOR], 1.27; 95% CI, 0.95–1.68) and a significantly 59% higher risk of disability (36.1% vs. 16.3%; aOR, 1.59; 95% CI, 1.32–1.91) at 90 days.
