Indeed, evidence is provided on the presence of disrupted endocannabinoid signaling as indicated by the increased protein expression levels of CB1R in the telencephalon of MK-801-treated zebrafish, in agreement to previous findings reporting molecular alterations in components of endocannabinoid signaling in several psychiatric conditions characterized by social impairment (Zou et al., 2021) as well as in anxiety disorders (Maldonado et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene CNR1 and anxiety disorder.
