Wild-type mice (WT, 20-week-old) were fed a high palmitic acid diet (PD) for eight weeks, which induced obesity (Figure S3) without altering either the gene expression of the pro-inflammatory (M1) macrophage markers (Tnfa [TNF-α], Il1b [IL-1β] and Il6 [IL-6]) or the macrophage polarization (M1/M2) ratio in subcutaneous or visceral adipose tissues (Figures S4, 1I, and 1J). The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
