Avoidance of apoptosis is a hallmark of cancer, which in B cell lymphoma is often achieved through the upregulation of anti-apoptotic BCL2 proteins due to chromosomal translocation, gene amplification or constitutive activation of transcription factors that upregulate BCL2 family proteins such as nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB)3–5. Here, BCL2 is linked to B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
