The RAS system is known to be a crucial regulator of the pathogenesis of radiation-induced toxicities as ACE inhibitors have been shown to reduce multi-organ toxicity in animal models (Kma et al., 2012; Medhora et al., 2012; Fish et al., 2016; Mungunsukh et al., 2021) and the incidental use of lisinopril in cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy is associated with decreased normal tissue toxicity (Kharofa et al., 2012; Kerns et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene ACE and cancer.
