Gong et al. (25) demonstrated that myocardial infarction was decreased and cardiac function improved in METTL3 knockout mice, consistent with findings reported by Song et al. (26), who demonstrated that METTL3 is a negative regulator of autophagy in cardiomyocytes; however, ALKBH5 has the opposite effect. Here, METTL3 is linked to myocardial infarction.
