Given previous well-established data on the essentiality of the E-cadherin/β-catenin complex to maintain the integrity of epithelial cell-cell contact [15], and the critical role of β-catenin signaling during the development of colorectal cancer [16], this study was designed to investigate DDR1’s roles in colorectal cancer and colorectal adenoma and its proposed correlation to β-catenin which are under-validated and still need further exploration. This evidence concerns the gene CDH1 and colorectal cancer.
