COMT is a gene with variants believed to affect multiple traits, including executive function and schizophrenia risk in the general population and executive function in 22q11.2 deletion carriers [30–33], and whose expression is associated with IQ in the general population [34].Our data provides a refined hypothesis that the relationship between COMT and IQ is dependent on additional non-coding genes at 22q11.2. This evidence concerns the gene COMT and schizophrenia.
