Increased plasma concentrations of RBP4 are correlated with obesity and insulin resistance [86, 87], and hepatic depletion of Retsat decreases glycolytic flux and de novo lipogenesis [88], consistent with decreased expression of these genes contributing to the metabolic phenotype of Fmo5-/- mice.
