The number of surviving GFP-positive pancreatic cancer cells under gemcitabine exposure increased significantly universally in MIA PaCa-2 (Fig. 3a and Supplementary Fig. 6a) and SUIT-2 (Fig. 3b and Supplementary Fig. 6b) when co-cultured with HEK293T, which was knocked out for eight candidate genes: C9orf89, C19orf70, C21orf33, ENAM, MAGI2, MLPH, RHBDD2, and SLCO1B1. The knockout of these eight genes in the supporting cells universally induced the survival of leukemia cells under cytarabine and pancreatic cancer cells under gemcitabine. This evidence concerns the gene SLCO1B1 and leukemia.
