Interestingly, the depression features per se do not seem to drive these translational processes: subjects in the MDD CRP >3 group show the highest HAMD-17 scores (mean around 16), but this is numerically very similar to the mean of the CRP <1 mg/L group (around 15), while the lowest mean is in the CRP 1–3 group (around 12); this suggests that higher CRP is not unequivocally associated with more severe or treatment-resistant depression. Here, CRP is linked to depressive disorder.
