This molecule is an N-acetyl-glucosamine 6-phosphate analogue capable of diminishing the HBP flux by targeting the HBP enzyme PGM3, leading first to a cell proliferation inhibition and then to cell death (10, 11), underlining the fundamental role of this pathway in breast and pancreatic cancer cell proliferation and survival. Here, PGM3 is linked to familial pancreatic carcinoma.
