These findings are congruent with prior research that demonstrates that overexpression of a dominant negative TRF2 in endothelial cells induces senescence in adipose tissue and disrupts metabolic homeostasis (Barinda et al., 2020), and conversely, endothelial‐specific deletion of p53 attenuates high‐fat diet‐induced obesity and the accompanying metabolic impairments (Yokoyama et al., 2014). The gene discussed is TERF2; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
