One study fed Pediococcus pentosaceus CECT 8330 to mice with colitis and found that the strain reduced levels of proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6), and increased levels of IL-10 and abundance of Muribaculaceae and Lactobacillus; the authors concluded that P. pentosaceus CECT 8330 could be a promising probiotic to reduce intestinal inflammation (Dong et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and colitis.
