Furthermore, 6 months after bariatric surgery, significant improvements in general health were observed, such as less inflammation; lowered leptin, SAA, and PAI-1 levels; higher adiponectin level; lower blood pressure; less use of medication for comorbidities (such as diabetes and hypertension); less reported use of antidepressants; improved mood; and higher physical activity levels (Figure 2).
