One study found that CSF CRP concentrations correlate with motor symptom severity, measured using the Movement Disorders Society Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) motor examination score (Part III), in male PD patients and with measures of cognitive performance in female patients, suggesting a possible sex dimorphism in CRP as a marker of inflammation in PD and/or in the pathogenic mechanisms of motor versus non-motor symptoms (32). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and movement disorder.
