Prominent basal ganglia involvement may be seen in viral encephalitides such as La-Crosse virus encephalitis (see section 8, Table 1 for others), but can also occur with anti-LGI-1 encephalitis, acute necrotizing encephalopathy of childhood (related to mutations in RANBP2), and other conditions (16–18). This evidence concerns the gene LGI1 and viral encephalitis.
